Monteverdi's Orfeo at the Marseille Opera House
Surrounded by a largely young team well-versed in the secrets of interpreting early Baroque music, Romain Bockler, who plays the title role, and Jean-Marc Aymes on harpsichord and conducting, set themselves a challenge: to recapture the emotional power of Monteverdi's masterpiece, anchoring it both in its Renaissance heritage and in the future of Baroque opera. And for this unique performance, the power of the music is extended by the spatial and lighting design of Jimmy Boury.

Romain Bockler and Jean-Marc Aymes propose a programme dedicated to motets for bass voices and violins, 'à l'italienne', a rarer arrangement than that for soprano and above, but in which the two composers have shown magnificent inventiveness.
The young baritone is the ideal interpreter of these absolute yet unknown masterpieces of French sacred music of the 18th century !
